I’ve been incredibly busy the past couple of weeks (primarily moving, among other things) and I’m just now finally getting settled in. I don’t think I’ve had this kind of incessant time away from blogging since I started this thing, but hopefully things will get back to normal around here.
What better way to kick things off than with The Daily Graboid, as this will be another chunk of the last month or so of releases that I’ve missed. Starting next week I will probably get back to a weekly posting of this, so I’m sure that will at least please the majority of you.
Feel free to recommend anything I may have missed!

Over the past couple of months, I’ve found myself watching an unhealthy amount of television in my spare time. Of course, during this span, a number of familiar songs have made their way onto quite a few commercials. The amount of times I would see each of these became so frequent that I decided to go ahead and make a list of some the more recent ones. As with the majority of these commercial posts, this is usually what makes me decide to compile one of these.
These advertisements are still a fantastic a way for a song to find a much wider audience; and for the most part, seeing these on television can still be a great way of discovering new music (though, the internet kind of killed that).
Plus, I think it’s a good idea now to ditch the term “sell out” in regards to any of these indie bands/artists letting their music be used. Bands need to make money some way or another, so unless you’re Coldplay or something, who the fuck cares?
Without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff! Links to each video and MP3s are included after the cut.

Sorry for the late posting of this week’s Graboid, folks. The king of fighting games returned this week as Street Fighter IV was released on consoles, along with pretty much taking up any kind of free time i’ve had over the past couple of days. Hopefully, all of you can cut me some slack with the lack of posts this week for the time being.
Sitting down earlier tonight to compile the goods from this week of album releases seemed rather daunting, as there are a staggering amount of quality albums to be had. We’ve got new records from Morrissey, Asobi Seksu, M. Ward, Beirut, Alela Diane, Aidan Moffat (of Arab Strap), and Benjy Ferree just to name a few.
One other release I would look into picking up (as it’s for a good cause) is the new Red Hot compilation Dark Was the Night, to help raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. It’s a staggering amount of songs from 30 of the best artists working right now.
