No April Fool’s Day pranks from TYS this year, as we’ve got nothing but the goods with The Daily Graboid this week. You might find quite a few places describing this week’s releases as “slim” but I beg to differ. That’s just crazy talk when you look at some of the highly anticipated records that comprise this list. A couple that I’m personally jazzed about include the latest offerings from Peter Bjorn and John, PJ Harvey and John Parish, The Whitest Boy Alive, Great Lake Swimmers, and even the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

A couple of weeks ago I was demanding a release date for the next Kings of Convenience record, but I guess we’ve instead received the next best solution as Erlend Øye’s other sorta side-project, The Whitest Boy Alive, is currently prepping a new record for release on March 30th.

I have to admit that i’m quite surprised to find out that another record was in the works, as Dreams seemed to be just a one-off sort of deal.  Than again, the Berlin (Erlend also lives in Berlin) based group has been together since 2003.

The new record is called Rules, and will be released on their own label, Bubbles.

We’re also fortunate enough to have a taste of what’s to come as a new track off the record has been made available.  I had to dig back to a post I did back in 2006 for Dreams, but I imagine the same description will work this time around — at least if this song is any indication –  of a very laid back and stripped down version of Phoenix’s pop stylings.
