Sorry for the late posting of this week’s Graboid, folks. The king of fighting games returned this week as Street Fighter IV was released on consoles, along with pretty much taking up any kind of free time i’ve had over the past couple of days. Hopefully, all of you can cut me some slack with the lack of posts this week for the time being.

Sitting down earlier tonight to compile the goods from this week of album releases seemed rather daunting, as there are a staggering amount of quality albums to be had. We’ve got new records from Morrissey, Asobi Seksu, M. Ward, Beirut, Alela Diane, Aidan Moffat (of Arab Strap), and Benjy Ferree just to name a few.

One other release I would look into picking up (as it’s for a good cause) is the new Red Hot compilation Dark Was the Night, to help raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. It’s a staggering amount of songs from 30 of the best artists working right now.

Starting to notice a large influx of new songs in my inbox as of late, not that i’m complaining or anything.  Joining this ever-growing list is the new single “Never had Nobody Like You,” from M. Ward’s forthcoming album Hold Time, due out on February 17 on Merge Records.

Love her or hate her, the song features the vocals of Zooey Deschanel, who previously collaborated with M.Ward resulting in She & Him and last year’s Volume One.  A record that suddenly saw much vile being thrown at it after Paste proclaimed it their #1 album of 2008.  I was actually pleasantly surprised with it, and wasn’t expecting much from it in the first place.  They work well together, as you can see with this new single here.
