Air France

You may remember Air France and their EP No Way Down, which seemed to come out at a perfect time last year right around this time.  With it’s total playing time being only around 23 minutes, it meant for a brisk listening experience of whimsical summertime pop.

A new song has recently surfaced, and from the information I’ve managed to dig up, this seems to just be one-off sort of deal as this is part of a three part dedication to Gothenburg titled “GBG Belongs To Us: A Love Letter In Three Parts.”  You can check out the rest here, but the video in part III seems to not work at all for me.

Ah, Sweden – one day I will visit you with my backpack full of all the albums that i’ve managed to burn money on over the last couple of years.  The latest name to add to this overflowing list of Swedish imports is Air France — a band who’s musical descriptions have ranged from “beach foam pop” to “indiepop-disco,” — who’ve recently released their new EP titled No Way Down on the Sincerely Yours label.  It also received the dubious “Best New Music” over at Pitchfork, if that tickles your fancy at all.

I’ve been listening to the EP all morning, as each sample-driven song breezes along at a whimsical pace during it’s 23-minute length.  It’s perfect summer-time pop; whether you’re sitting out in the sun, or just driving around with the windows down.  Take a listen to “Collapsing At Your Doorstep,” an incredibly catchy song with so many different sounds going on.  That children’s vocal throughout the song is just so infectious: “Sorta like a dream?” “No — better.”  Good stuff.
