Decided to auto-post this since i’m currently out of town. Kind of nice to get out of Auburn to avoid the onslaught of college football. I’m not much of a hardcore fan, but I do support the team here of course. Not much else to say other than that, so i’ll just post this week’s edition of The Sunday Shuffle and get out of here. I hope everyone enjoys their extended labor day weekend!

Many apologies for the lack of posts over the past week, as the move to a new host just dampened any kind of motivation I had to post. At least I got The Daily Graboid up, since that week was pretty significant and I didn’t want to pass that one up. So yeah, Monday will be back to normal and hopefully everything will start to run a lot more smoothly now.
If you look above at the header image, you’ll notice that there are new graphics in place of that old piece of the crap that had been in place on the blog forever. After I changed the layout, there was something about the older image that bothered me. The font was huge and had a very bright yellow. It was very distracting and just downright ugly. Thankfully, after answering my random suggestion for a new header, Chase from the Standard Lipsum was kind enough to provide a few images for us to use on the blog. I think they’re wonderful and i’m extremely thankful that he actually put in the time to create them for us. What do all of you think of the new header images? Yay or nay?

“Bitches In Tokyo” | Stars

As most of you have noticed, things look a little bit different around here. I’m not sure why I suddenly decided to completely change everything late last night, but I think the site looks much better after spending several hours tinkering around. My hope is that the new layout becomes for more accessibility to readers, and if anyone has any suggestions on how we could improve the blog, feel free to let me know. I’m still tweaking everything as I type this, and i’ll probably change the header sometime later in the week.
Site changes aside, I managed to set aside some time to put together this week’s edition of The Sunday Shuffle as well. Nothing here that’s particularly new or hasn’t been mentioned on the blog before, but I think it’s an enjoyable set of songs. I definitely needed something upbeat to listen to this weekend, and this is that result. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and toss me some feedback in regards to the new look!

This week showcases a solid amount of releases with Okkervil River’s Stage Names being the high-profile album out of this bunch. I’ve mentioned here many times that i’ve never been much of a fan, but i’m willing to give this one a chance. A few other releases have been mentioned here on the blog recently and I can definitely recommend. Those being Art in Manila’s Set the Woods on Fire, The Brunette’s Structure and Cosmetics and the Benzos’ Branches (which I haven’t mentioned on the blog previously).
One interesting release that caught me by complete surprise is the The Distant Future EP from the New Zealand comedic duo of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement better known as Flight of the Conchords. Their cable television show has become an instant favorite of mine after discovering I suddenly had HBO and catching an episode a couple of weeks ago.
What are you interested in picking up this week? Anything that I may have missed?

I wasn’t planning on posting The Sunday Shuffle today, but this weekend has been extremely boring for me. I have done nothing else but sleep (not that sleeping is a bad thing) for hours upon hours, and I figured i’d go ahead and post this for all of you who may be having a lackluster weekend as well.
Like usual, all the tracks were randomly chosen, though I wanted to go with more well-known songs this time around. I’ve wanted to go with a theme for one of the future installments, but I can’t decide what I want to do. If any of you have suggestions, feel free to voice them in the comments.
Chemical Brothers | “Star Guitar”

Black Box Recorder | “The Art of Driving”

The Wrens | “Happy”

The Shuffle has been on a roll with almost a weekly showing. For some reason I really like putting these together. The songs are always a lot of fun, and the kind of music I want to kick back and relax to over a lazy sunday morning. That of which is exactly what i’m doing as i’ve finally finished moving all this shit into the new apartment. I swear there is so much junk that I have no clue as to why it’s still around. It just ends up being more work. Yesterday I had to move a piano and the washer/dryer, which presented itself as a problem since I wasn’t able to secure a moving van for that day. I honestly thought we were screwed until I talked a few guys from the thrift store, who were picking up a fridge that we donated, to help load the items I mentioned earlier onto their moving truck. They were college students like myself, so I just slipped them some cash and they easily agreed to help.I’m sure noone gives a shit about any of that, but I have no idea what else to talk about really. Enjoy this latest batch of songs, and I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Has anyone seen
The Simpsons movie yet? I was wondering if it’s worth checking out, might go see it tomorrow.

Decided to compile a mix for The Sunday Shuffle right after my last post since I won’t have internet access till Monday night. Hopefully this will tide all of you over until then, plus these are easy to make since the tracks are just randomly chosen. If everything goes as planned, this should post itself on it’s own. Never tried it before, but hope you all enjoy and i’ll see you next week!

The Sunday Shuffle is back this week, and this time around I decided to go back to the original idea I had for this feature. Basically, I would choose a bunch of random tracks and post them here for your listening pleasure. I actually like how this turned out as there is a little bit of everything from songs recently released this year to songs from a few years ago. A number of these i’ve mentioned on the blog before, along with some that I never got around to talking about. If there are any songs or artists here that you would like to know more about, please feel free to let me know and i’ll expand on them on a future post!
I just realized it was Father’s Day today as well. Go tell your dad you love them, just because. Happy Father’s Day, missing you everyday dad.

In Other News…..
Lots of places have been live blogging Bonnaroo including Cable & Tweed, You Ain’t No Picasso, The Futurist and Loudersoft. I’m still sad I didn’t go, but you should go check those links out because I have been.
Head over to Music is Art and check out Danielle’s latest Song/Context/Result post. She was kind enough to let me contribute to it this time around, so check that out because the song I chose means a lot to me.
Actually, I don’t have much else to add to this. I honestly didn’t read many blogs this week, but Speed of Dark does and their weekly blog summary is much better than whatever crap I could muster up.
Ohh, I forgot. Batman has new digs! It looks like he can actually move his neck now.
RIP restrictive neck movement.

After about five months, The Sunday Shuffle has come out of hiding. It was never meant to be a consistent week to week feature like the Graboid, but I just couldn’t figure out what to do with it. It first started off as like a shuffle of tracks and I would just post those every Sunday, but ultimately I decided to let it just be anything and everything. From random mixes to shuffled playlists, if it’s something i’m in the mood for on a lazy Sunday, than it will be done.
This time around, I decided to go set of remixes that i’ve had sitting on my computer for months. If you remember, I posted a ton of remixes back in November and I actually had a lot of you ask me to post another list. There are so many remixes being put out now that it’s almost overwhelming. I’m sure i’m missing out on many, but here’s a lot that i’ve been listening to since the beginning of the year. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and I hope you like what you hear on this.
