Girls have instantly gained fans across the world with their combination of catchy, fun tunes and beautifully honest lyrics. I fell in love with their music the first time I listened to them.
Chris Owens is very direct in his songwriting, addressing particular friends in tracks like, “Laura” and “Lauren Marie.” The sincerity of their music is something that is very rare to me these days and I feel that this is what is going to keep them around for a very long time.
Girls’ debut record titled Album is definitely one you should purchase before the year ends. It’s one of my favorite albums of 2009 and I’m sure it’s going to make many other top ten lists.
I can’t remember the last time I have been so touched by a new band’s music and this may show a bit in my interview. Enjoy this brief Q&A I did with the singer and bassist/producer, Chris Owens and JR White.
