If there was a song to listen to while making the blazing heat of summer just a bit more bearable, it would certainly have to be this one from Highlife. This is a project of White Magic guitarist Sleepy Doug Shaw, which I discovered via a GvB summer mix (definitely check that one out), and I probably listened to this one song in particular while driving around in my car for about a half hour straight.
It just absolutely nails what I would imagine an ideal summer song in the guise of idyllic folk would sound like. The acoustic guitar melodies, the backing vocals consisting of what sounds like cheerful chants, it all comes together rather nicely over its 5 minute span. This one is a keeper, folks.
