Air

As much as I love how many of these well-known bands are beginning to provide free songs to download from upcoming releases, the actual process to acquire said song is completely unwarranted as far as I’m concerned.  Besides bullshitting most of the information it usually asks for (fake name/address? check.), I even have an email account that I specifically created for  this kind of nonsense.

This time around the free download comes courtesy of the boys from Air, who recently announced their new album titled Love 2, which is set to be released on October 6 on Astralwerks.

Now, as much as I love these guys, I’m sort of at an odd crossroads with their music as of late.  With each new album, I seem to be waiting for the second coming of Moon Safari, as that kind of mindset almost does a disservice to pretty much everything they’ve released since that album.  Not that I’ve hated anything recent of theirs or anything like that.  It’s just that you know exactly what to expect from these guys, but they’re just so damn good that they could easily slack off and put together some medicore piece of crap by their standards and I would probably still love it.

My opinions on the song?  It certainly sounds like Air — that moody ambience, breathy vocals, yadda yadda yadda.  It sounds mostly like a filler track, as it’s not even the official single.  So with that, I’m not putting too much stock into this one until I hear the proper single.

Head over to this link and fill out the obligatory information that I alluded to earlier, as you’ll be provided with a download code to get the song off iTunes.
