At this point, anything new from Jarvis Cocker is exciting to me.  That being said, whether or not I like it is another story.  Following up his 2006 debut solo record (which was okay, I just didn’t love it) is Further Complications, which will be released May 19th via Rough Trade.  A free downloadable track has been made available called “Angela” and I’m not gonna lie about this, but it’s kinda crap.  Just a little too repetitive for my tastes.

Anyways, regardless of what I think of that song, if I were to be seeing him perform this live it would probably be the best thing ever.  That charismatic bastard.  What do you folks think about the new song?

I’m a huge fan as well, but yeah… not a great song. Repetitive is one word. Underwritten is another. A few more listens and “annoying”might come into play.

At this point, I don’t see myself listening to the song enough to consider it annoying. I never understand why the downloadable tracks are never the proper singles. More people end up hearing that initial track, and that which be detrimental in the long run if it’s lackluster.
