El Perro Del Mar :: ‘Love Is Not Pop’

Still in a state of catch up with all of the recent happenings during my short little break the past couple of weeks, and it’s always so difficult to get back into the swing of things after realizing how much I missed out on in just a short amount of time.
One bit of exciting news is the announcement of a new release — well a mini-album — from El Perro Del Mar (Sarah Assbring). The forthcoming release titled Love Is Not Pop contains seven new songs, which were recorded with Rasmus Hägg, who is one half of the Swedish electronic duo, Studio. This pairing brings forth so many possibilities with the direction the sound could take on this record, so i’m very anxious to get my hands on this one. Plus, as much as I love El Perro Del Mar, last year’s From the Valley to the Stars was certainly a bit lacking, so a willingness to change things up would be welcome.
Even though this won’t be released (Scandinavia only) until April 1st — which I almost thought was an April Fool’s joke at first — a stream of a track has been made available on her myspace page called “Change of Heart.” Wish we could get a MP3 of this one, but i’m not complaining. It’s a very catchy track with a nice underlying bass groove, which certainly hints at the possibility for more diverse songs that we alluded to earlier.
