It almost feels like 2006, as I seem to be covering the follow-up albums from a lot of the same artists that previously had releases during that year. Well, add French electropopsters Phoenix to the list, as they’ve kicked off what would otherwise be another boring week with a teaser for their upcoming fourth album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, due out on May 25th. They were kind of enough to put up a free download of track “1901″ on their website, which had a snazzy little flash opening (dig that hot pink flashing font).
Though, it’s been a few years since we’ve heard from them, it’s obvious from this song that they’ve been spending that time working out on synths all day. It just buzzes with the goods that we’ve all come to expect, with no changes to what makes them so unique in the first place. And really, would you have it any other way? With all the indie rock that has been coming my way lately, this just feels so refreshing to me.
