The Daily Graboid is back to kick off the very first week of new releases on this newly minted year. Not exactly bursting at the seams with new stuff, but I didn’t really expect to see much of anything to be honest. Though, if vinyl is your preferred choice, there is something from those guys, you know, Animal Collective? Yeah them. Merriweather Post Pavilion, which is only available this week on deluxe vinyl, you’ll have to wait till January 20 for its release on cd/digital formats. I’ve yet to hear it, but I wouldn’t mind having a physical copy just for that album cover. So swirly…ahem.
Other releases that may tickle your fancy include the U.S. release of the self-titled album from Glasvegas, and The Brighton Port Authority aka Norman Cook/Fatboy Slim which is available exclusively on Amazon. I had actually never even heard of The BPA, but some of these tracks are pretty damn good with some great vocalists.

Hi YellowStereo
Just wanted to say thanks for all your work last year and here’s to many more. This is the only music blog I visit; you’ve always got some neat tracks and turned me onto some awesome stuff like Sia, Lykke Li and Elbow!
Thanks!
Thanks Mark! Always great to hear such kind words. I just checked the link to your page, and that’s an awesome video game blog. Good gamer blogs are always hard to come by, outside of those monster ones like Joystiq and Kotaku.
Hey PJ,
Glad to see Deleted Scenes included here. We played with them in Baltimore a year and a half ago and they were great. I’ve gone out to support them in NYC a few times since then. It’s good to see an under-recognized band receive some notice after putting in the hard work! Sites like this one, who recognize new bands and don’t just pander to the hot bands of the moment, make all the work worth it for us bands. Thanks!
Yes! I missed these.
Oh I recognize that Toe Jam song from the nude censored bar video.
Was a viral video hit last year.
