The time between seasons of the hit comedy series Flight of the Conchords has seemingly gone by rather quickly as we’re now hot on the heals of the January 18th premiere of Season Two on HBO. I’m actually quite excited for the new season, even though I find myself enjoying the show more in bits and pieces than actually sitting through entire episodes. There are entire segments that are absolutely brilliant — just look some of it up on YouTube for proof — but if there’s an arc or ongoing storyline, than I honestly have no idea what’s going on.
If you happened to completely miss out on Season One, you can have a taste of New Zealand’s finest comedy duo, or “Formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo,” as the entire premiere episode of Season Two can be streamed right now.
You may have thought I would’ve shared a link to watch all of Season One, but for one lucky reader, he or she will be able to do just that with a prize pack that includes the Season One DVD. Other FoTC goodies include the following:

my favorite moment is when they go to mel’s house for dinner and there is a picture of both bret and jemaine’s head together on a beast-like man in the nude and both of them don’t see this picture.
I love Foux Da Fa Fa where Jermaine uses up his entire store of French words to impress the croissant girls. My Hubby does the same. He can show you his identity card and say his name is Sylvie and c’est tout.
Well I have to say it’s when Brett quits the band and goes to work in the warehouse. I recall how Jemaine tries to cope with the solo practice session and well that was about the funniest thing.
But then also the fight with the fruit vendor and resulting song in the Drive By episode.

Sinjay: You can have fruit from the New Zealand section.
Jemaine: There’s a dog in that section.
Sinjay: Yeah, well, it’s for dogs from America and people from New Zealand.

Anyways, my favorite moment is actually from the pilot. Murray and the guys are discussing how you don’t get with your bandmate’s girlfriend (paraphrased, quotes are probably not verbatim):
Murray: You get a Fleetwood Mac situation, a love triangle. Although there were four of them, so more of a love square. But they did make some of their best music then.
Bret: Rumours.
Murray: No. No, it’s actually all true.
My favorite parts of any of the episodes was roll call.
“Jemaine?”
“yes.”
“Bret?”
“yes” (or other smart reply)
“Murray? Present.”

Bret’s animal sweaters! I couldn’t wait to see what sort of adorable monstrosity he’d be wearing each week. (And the songs, obviously.)
I loved when they showed Bret’s camera phone made of a camera and phone duct-taped together.
without a doubt. best part: albi the racist dragon. he cried dragon tears which everyone knows turns into jellybeans. oh and the badly burnt albanian boy. i can watch that a hundred times and die laughing. “get your hand off my tail you’ll make it dirty…”

Jemaine is my favorite, everything he does is comical and what a range on that voice!
But I don’t think I’ve ever heard the name Jemaine before, I’m not sure it’s a real name..
Jemaine is so amusing that when my friend won in a bet the right to name my roommate’s first born he demanded that it be the best name ever, Jemaine.
That poor child.
I love Bret’s helmet that looks like his head of hair! classic!
Most memorable bit for me is the tune ‘If You’re Into It’ in the Yoko episode- excellent!

I have never seen the show because I don’t have cable (too expensive). But my boss always talks about the show, especially the “French song”? I would love to win it so I can catch up!
It has to be the episode where Bret and Jermaine want to buy produce from the street vendor and he won’t sell it to them because he thinks they are Australian. Best part is when the vendor is chastising them at the end before he learns they are Kiwis.
“Bret You’ve Got It Going On” is the best and when Jemaine does the talking oven.

Probably most quoted by my friends and I would be the whole episode with the leather suits.
“Well somebody had a bit of fun last night. 8 dollar can of mixed nuts. Got such a buzz off those you decided to chuck a tv out the window, is that it?”
“I’m so livid with you turkeys. You’re like a couple of..cool-looking idiots.”
“Mr. Keith Moon, with your leather suits.”
“I’m so angry I feel like swearing!”
“Oh you wouldn’t swear at us Murray.”

“Bret, I cant believe it. You tried to one up Germaine and drove the Honda into the pool. Personally, I prefer the mixed nuts caper. At least that was original.”

The frequently changing instruments that Jermaine plays in “If You’re Into It,” especially the lyre.
When the band split and Bret gets that tiny closet apartment and throws a party in it.
The dancing salt and pepper shakers in the theme song opening: There’s a reason they’re put before every episode. They’re the best.

I love the music on the show (Ladies of the World is a JAM.), but I have to say Murray the manager just makes me laugh anytime he says a word.
The episode where he’s razzing them about “mixed nuts” being all rock n’ roll is straight up hilarious.
One of my favorite parts of Season 1 is in the episode where Murray brings out the “photos” of the band, and it turns out neither of them is in the first one, and Bret’s head is glued onto the second one. At least that’s the best part I remember right now.
One memorable image: the boys on their hands and knees, wearing costumes that make them look like squiggles of the “women’s toothpaste” they’re shilling, emerging from giant toothpaste tubes. It’s both totally original and crack-your-sh*t-up funny – even a bit poignant.
This scene/song I absolutely love and find hilarious!

The episode where jermaine and brett (bret?) are fighting over Sally and brett makes the painting of him and sally, where sally is the ill amazon and brett’s a wolf. I would wear that as as sweatshirt in a minute.
i have honestly never seen this tv show (don’t have cable tv) but everyone tells me i would love it. and whenever people talk about it… i’m totally lost!

my absolute favorite part of season 1 was the “foux de fa fa” song. i’d just come back after spending 9 months in france & every time i watched it, it made me laugh & miss france.

best comedic moment (if I have to choose one): When Brett and Jemaine are interviewing for the same job, the interviewer says that their job would be holding signs and asks them if it is something they think they could do. Jemaine responds, ” Sounds like something a lamppost could do.”
I love absolutely everything about the show, so I’ll just pick something that hasn’t been mentioned here before (I think). The posters in Murray’s office are hilarious

I thought the episode about the racist grocer was fantastic! His song about him with all the blanked out bad words cracks me up and I was singing part of it to myself earlier today.
My favorite part of season 1 was Dave trying to teach Bret and Jemaine how to “flip the bird”. Hehe.

BRET’S ANGRY DANCE.
I really want this prize pack- I may not have the best favorite moment from FOTC but I really want this also because Theres this guy I like and I have this plan to send him a note with a guitar pic or something else FOTC in it telling him that I like him, but onto the true part.
My favorite parts are when Bret is singing to CoCoa and he says
“Shes so hot…Shes so flippin hot…I wanna tell her how hot she is but she’ll think I’m sexist….shes so hot shes makin me sexist….bitch!”

The end of the episode where Bret thinks hes too small and Jemaine asks if hes gonna finish his biscuit and he says “no, I’m not eating anymore I’m too fat…”

Proof that they have spontanaiety ( did I spell that right?) in their blood is found at the Amoeba Video archives. Their 08 instore is a riot and really shows that they work in a variety of environments.
