What better way to end such an incredible week than with this new teaser trailer for Pixar’s next masterpiece.  The film is simply called Up, and outside of the theatrical poster, I had yet to see any actual footage for it.

Well, thanks to the folks at /Film for providing a nice set of links to view this trailer that oddly tries to sell the film on the studio’s past achievements.  I’m not sure if it’s necessary as we see a nice montage of Pixar’s entire library to date, but the accompanying footage has me very excited simply because I sense a very large Miyazaki influence throughout this trailer.  From that near photo-realistic shot of the balloons leading that small house in the sky, this just makes me incredibly excited and a bit curious as to what this film has in store for us.

A brief synopsis of the film:
Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life. UP takes audiences on a thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures. When seeking adventure next summer—look UP.

Pixar’s Up hits theaters on May 29th 2009.

As with anything Pixar does I am REALLY looking forward to this. It looks like it can be another one that manages to be entertaining and intelligent while tugging on the heartstrings like only Pixar can.

    I’ll be there opening night!

(And I’m excited to pick up Wall-E later this month on DVD!)

  2. the trailer link doesn’t work ;D

i’ll put the youtube video up, if you’re computer stinks than it probably won’t work. I pretty much had to cut off every program to even have the video run smoothly.

totally unrelated, but i forgot to tell TYS that i saw jukebox the ghost last month! they are sooooo good live. it was pretty neat that a lot of the audience was really into it, even though they were just the opening band. the keyboardist is amazingly talented and fun to watch.

Beth, that’s funny, because I actually thought more about Don Quijote de la Mancha, since it’s an old man that goes off into some fantastic adventures with a young, chubby sidekick…
