The Sea and Cake have been making their shimmering brand of mellow indie rock for a long time now, so those who are already fans know exactly what to expect. To the uninitiated, these veterans make softer indie with a little edge, kind of like what might happen if Yo La Tengo teamed up with a less folky Kings of Convenience. And, like most bands that have been around this long, when they come out with another disc of solid music, you know it’s worth a listen. Their latest album, Car Alarm, is out next week via Thrill Jockey Records. The album’s title track, linked below, ought to be enough to let you know if it’s for you… all I know is I’m digging it.
