Au Revoir Simone remix album :: Reverse Migration
Posted by PJ in The Yellow Stereo, Upcoming
I think over the past year or so, I began to grow a bit disenchanted with remixes (they’re a dime a dozen nowadays, and 95% of them aren’t good), especially any announcements of remix albums. Sometimes it just doesn’t seem resonate with me at all, besides the idea of bleeding an album dry for whatever it’s worth. For instance, that remix album of Stars’ Set Yourself on Fire, which I had really no interest in listening to because I don’t think their music lends itself well to being remixed in the first place.
So why am I posting about a remix album from Brooklyn indie-popsters Au Revoir Simone? Not sure really, I guess it’s just one of those ‘right place at the right time’ sort of instances. There’s a curiosity of how well their music would translate – considering it’s primarily electronic-based synthpop – which is pretty good I would imagine. Plus, there’s some talent involved from the likes of Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, and The Teenagers. A few of the tracks have already surfaced with premieres on both Stereogum and RCRDLBL, and they’re decent, but i’d rather take a follow-up to The Bird of Music instead.
The remix album, titled Reverse Migration will be released on November 11th.
