I caught this bit of news yesterday via the Happy Happy Birthday to Me blog (I had no idea they had a blog until yesterday) and apparently this is about a month old, but still very new to me: Afternoon Naps have apparently joined the Athens-based label, and will be releasing a new full-length in early 2009! Not familiar with the band? It’s pure indiepop with boy girl vocals, handclaps, organs, etc. — though a quote on their myspace bio simply describes their songs as “Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus…End!” Doesn’t need much more of an explanation, right? I’m still hoping to see this Cleveland, Ohio-based six-piece someday, since I completely missed them at Athens Popfest a few months ago.
Their 2007 debut album, Sunbeamed is currently available now, along with a couple of excellent singles on Cloudberry Records. You can also download their Popfest set over at The Flat Response.
