Well, lately I do most of my digital music purchases through eMusic and Amazon MP3, and one thing I’ve really loved about Amazon MP3 is their daily deal (usally some album on sale for 2-4 bucks). On Facebook they have a place where people can request certain albums be made daily deals, and every now and then they pick one. As you can see on this page, I requested the Dismemberment Plan’s classic Emergency & I, and today it’s on sale for $2.99.
So, for any TYS readers out there who don’t have this amazing album, pick it up today. It’s so good that I once had a friend that would test his potential girlriends by having them listen to this album in the car. If they liked it, he pursued them (if not, well, you know…). It’s so good that I completely got over not getting to be with a girl I was head over heels for because instead I saw the D-Plan live. It’s so good that I’d take it to a desert island. I even heard it cures cancer and can help you lose ten pounds in five days. It’s so good that if you don’t have it, you need it, so that you can realize there’s been a huge void in your life…
So, yeah, pick it up here on Amazon for 3 bucks!

“the city” has to be in my top ten songs of all time. this album is top three for me. so amazing start to finish.
i remember hearing “you are invited” in my friend’s car years ago and instantly becoming curious. i ended up becoming a much bigger than he ever was. too bad this was in 2003 when they JUST broke up. sigh…
pretty jealous that you got to see them live.
Oh man, seeing them live was great. It was in SLC during the Olympics, and while the rest of the world was at some free Barenaked Ladies concert or something I saw them at this little tiny venue (Kilby Court) where I was literally standing 3 feet away from Travis during the show. The mic even broke, and he couldn’t get it back together because of all the duct tape keeping it together in the first place (it was in the middle of “The Dismemberment Plan Get Rich”), so he sang the rest of the song extra loud sans mic. Plus, because of the Olympics all the public transportation was free, so we had a free ride home (doesn’t get much better than that!)
Two of the best four shows I’ve ever seen were the D Plan reunion shows. Thanks Pablo for proving that I’m not the only crazy D Plan fan here at The Yellow Stereo.
You Are Invited is a song I could listen to any time, any day…in fact…I think I’ll go take a listen…joymonger the same thing happened to me as well…just when I became a total fan-they broke up. Well at least we have Maritime and TMHF right?
