It’s been a while since i’ve touched on any recent commercials that have littered my television screen as of late, but since i’ve been living the unemployed life for nearly a month now, it’s safe to say that i’ve been watching a lot of tv as of late.  It’s not often that a commercial leaves me completely stumped as to who the artist is, but the recent Apple advertisement for the next generation iPod Nano had a catchy little tune which led me to finally search for it late last night after hearing it for a couple of weeks now.  I still don’t consider myself one of the rabid Apple fans out there, but It’s always a safe bet to count on hearing something a great song from the latest Apple commercial, as they seem to have firmly taken the mantle of great commercial songs that used to be occupied by Volkswagen.

The song here in question is called “Bruises” and comes from Chairlift, who make their home in Brooklyn.  I’ve been humming “I try to do handstands for you…” constantly, and that extended “youuuuu” just kills me.  Love it. According to GvB, they currently have a new album out called Does You Inspire You, which is due out later this month, but can be currently purchased online through iTunes.  I actually found this MP3 on Taylor’s blog, who always seems to be on top of this sort of thing, though it seems to be an older version of the song with a slightly different synth beat to it.

  1. I love this band! And they are such nice kids, too. Saw them open for Ariel Pink in Philly a few months back.
