After a couple of misfires with the last few Rilo Kiley albums, Jenny Lewis is set to release the follow-up to her wonderful debut solo album Rabbit Fur Coat, an album that I absolutely adore and still consider one of the best of 2006. Bringing with it Lewis’ own unique influence of gospel/country-folk, along with very personal, almost vulnerable lyrics that could melt the coldest of hearts.
The new album, Acid Tongue is set to hit later this month on September 23rd via Warner Brothers, and showcases a slew of talented collaborators which include Johnathan Rice, Farmer Dave Scher, Jason Boesel, Jason Lader, M Ward, Chris Robinson, Benji Hughes, Zooey Deschanel, and Vanessa Corbala. This is not even mentioning the inclusion of a duet with the great Elvis Costello.
The title track, which is the first single off the forthcoming album, seems to follow the foundation that was built with Rabbit Fur Coat, but with one noticeable omission, as the Watson twins are nowhere to be found. Still, no matter who is singing backup on the song, Jenny Lewis remains just as honest and compelling as ever.

I cant wait for this album! What was the video of? Its “no longer available”
it still works for me. it basically just plays the single over the cover art, but there’s a small bit in the beginning with Jenny and Ben Gibbard.
That’s Twains restaurant, it’s not that mystical in real life.
I got to hear this record yesterday. It was complete crap. I hated ever tune but the single, It seems like a ploy to get out of a record deal or possibly a reason for a record label to “define her sound” for upcoming future crapfests. The last record was incredible, the new record is cliche and laughable in a less-than-talented Dolly Parton sort of way. THERES A SONG CALLED CARPETBAGGERS FOR CHRISTSSAKE!
