After experiencing two excellent sets from both Ruby Isle and The Buddy System, I wasn’t sure how Athens based duo The Lolligags would stack up considering I had no idea what their sound was all about. I was tired and ready to head to the back to relax for a bit, but luckily, I decided to stick around – which i’m so incredibly glad that I did. The first thing I noticed right away was vocalist Dallion Lollihag, who took the stage with heart-shaped sunglasses and a bit of a swagger, with a voice that echoes a little Siouxsie along with a whole lot of sass. Unfortunately, all of my photos are complete crap since the lighting was sorta terrible during their set.
The duo (the other half, RG Lollifag) primarily played songs off of their upcoming EP Out Of Perversity Join Hands, which I happened to pick up along with their previous EP titled Wired. The Lolligags definitely left a positive impression on me with their highly addictive disco sounding electro-pop, as i’ve been playing both EPs constantly for the past week and a half. Quite simply, I am now a big fan, so here’s to hoping for a full-length sometime in the future. The forthcoming EP will be out on Happy Happy Birthday To Me on September 29.
There are a couple of new tracks off the upcoming EP on the band’s myspace page, so I highly recommend you check those out.
