Another week, another batch of new releases to sink our teeth into. I haven’t listened to much this week, but i’ve really liked the few songs i’ve heard from Brazilian Girls’ New York City, Oxford Collapse’s Bits, and Ida’s My Fair, My Dark EP. I’ve never particularly liked anything from Conor Oberst, so I doubt I will be listening to his new release anytime soon (didn’t he just have an album out not too long ago?). Feel free to recommend anything else that I haven’t mentioned.

i’m so, so, so, so disappointed that the rest of the airborne toxic event’s album doesn’t sound anything like “sometime around midnight.” that song is awesome. like arcade fire’s “wake up” awesome. such a shame that all their other songs sound like british sea power.
Sometime Around Midnight is the “music-event” of the year.
Bigger than anything else, it wants to explode in your speakers, it wants to drag you along.
Bold enough to be built around the same melody repeated over and over.
Its heartfelt simplicity is much welcome!!!!!!
One of the year’s best.
but don’t you wish the rest of the album had the same sense of urgency and emotion?
if they pulled that off, it would definitely be one of the year’s best albums. but they decide to go for just decent indie pop.
I think the Airborne Toxic Event’s album is brilliant… there are so many songs that are compelling…. Did you hear Wishing Well, or Innocence?? Gasoline can move anyone to jump up and dance… Each song is it’s own unique creation… These guys have a wonderful sound… They are terrific musicians and the acoustic versions that are posted on their myspace prove just that. They can actually play anytime and anywhere… They’re that good!
Do yourself a favor…. Listen for yourself… You will be happy you did.
