Pitchfork has premiered an MP3 of what will be the lead single on Of Montreal’s forthcoming album Skeletal Lamping, and guess what?  It pretty much sounds exactly how would you imagine it to be.  In fact, it’s very much in tone with all of Hissing Fauna…, which is not a bad thing at all, really.  It doesn’t really have much of a hook or ‘oomph’ that a single should, but apparently it’s the last track on the album.  It’s all things funky and weird, and Kevin Barnes’ shrieking howl throughout is amusingly delightful.

The 7″ single, which will be available on 09/09, can be pre-ordered from Polyvinyl as we speak – and will include all three copies of it on all different colors of vinyl.  That’s a hell of a deal, along with receiving a code for a free digital download of the entire album in MP3 format.
