Whoever first uttered the words “Breakin’ Up is Hard to Do” never lived in DC. No, don’t worry kids, Le Loup isn’t breaking up…in fact they’ve just announced some tour dates. However, the two ladies of Le Loup, Nicole Keenan and May Tabol have left to pursue other projects. Nicole actually told me back in June that they’d left the band but now that they have tour dates, they’ve made the official announcement on the internerd. Directly from their blog:

Nicole has chosen to finally turn her sights to her first passion, working in the field of social justice with such organizations as Co-Op America, and May has decided to take a break in order to work on her own music, which she’s had to patiently put on the back-burner for the last year. her music can now be heard (and hopefully soon in great abundance!) at www.myspace.com/musicforpree.

I actually got a chance to see Pree perform their first show a couple months ago and I hope that this project becomes as big as Le Loup has. If Modest Mouse were fronted by a woman and had really cool alternative forms of percussion (provided by Exit Clov’s John Thayer) then you’d have Pree. So although the chosen five doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as the chosen seven, you can check out those remaining members of Le Loup on the following dates with Stereolab:

10/04 New York, NY @ Fillmore Irving Plaza
10/06 Boston, MA @ Paradise
10/07 Montreal, QC @ Club Soda
10/08 Toronto, ON @ Phoenix Concert Theatre
10/09 Detroit, MI @ Crofoot
10/10 Chicago, IL @ Vic Theatre
10/12 Minneapolis, MN @ First Avenue
10/14 Denver, CO @ Gothic Theatre
