Final Fantasy offers up two new songs and two EP announcements

It’s been a while since i’ve kept up with Owen Pallet, aka Final Fantasy, so it’s nice to hear some new songs from two new EPs that are due out later in the fall. According to Stereogum, the first EP will be Spectrum, 14th Century, a collaboration of five songs with Beirut. The second EP will be called Plays To Please, which finds Pallet covering six Alex Lukashevsky originals with the help of a 35-piece band. If these two songs are any indication, these two EPs are sure to be incredible.
For those curious, whenever I see Final Fantasy in reference to Owen Pallet, it still irks me a bit. I know it’s confirmed that he’s a fan of the Final Fantasy videogame series, but it still bothers me for some reason. You can read a post I did a few years ago on this very subject here.
MP3: Final Fantasy :: “The Butcher”
Listen to the other new song, “Ultimatum” @ Stereogum.
