Out of curiosity and overall boredom, I checked out Kung Fu Panda last night, and you know what? I really had a great time with it. I tend to avoid Dreamworks-related CG animated endeavors, due to the fact that they just aren’t that good. They can never hold a candle to Pixar’s quality CG production, and rely too heavily on pop-culture references as opposed to original humor. With that being said, I went in expecting a lot of lowbrow humor to the extent of Panda fart jokes, and instead, ended up watching a beautifully animated film. Great voice all-around voice acting, and some kick-ass martial arts sequences.
My only worry was that I would hear Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting” at some point, since almost every comedic martial arts film has to play that silly song it seems. For those that are curious, yes, you do hear the song – though, it’s a cover by Cee-Lo and Jack Black (the voice of Po, our Panda hero).
Looks to be a good month for CG movies in general, as Pixar’s Wall-E is also set to hit theaters later this month. I’ve mentioned that one previously, and it still remains one of my most anticipated summer releases. Here’s a little mix in relation to Kung Fu Panda, which was more difficult to finds songs for than I had originally planned. Of course, had to have Panda Bear somewhere in this.

Yeah, that’s a good one. And you’re a right about it not featuring the song. Though, Stephen Chow’s previous film, Shaolin Soccer, did feature it (well, the US version).
