Kick-starting this first week of June, we have what is possibly the best week of album releases so far this year. I almost didn’t bother to post this week’s Graboid, since I just haven’t felt like writing anything lately. But, it’s times like these that just makes you excited about music, and it was just the thing I needed to hopefully get things back into motion here on the blog.

Since I was actually listening to Shearwater’s Rook as I was compiling this post, I figure it would be best to mention this first. I have been anxiously awaiting this release for months, as many nights have been spent listening to Palo Santo in anticipation. This album doesn’t disappoint, as Rook effortlessly builds upon the previous albums’ many strengths. Jonathan Meiburg, for all intents and purposes, has one of the greatest voices in music right now. His haunting vocals are the heart and soul of this band, and this album will no doubt have a spot on my year-end list.  Can’t wait to finally see them perform next week in Atlanta!

That’s not the only album to come down the tube this week, as you’ve got plenty of worthwhile releases from the likes of Aimee Mann, Weezer, Fleet Foxes, Ladytron, Ed Harcourt (finally, after two years, this gets its US release), The Futureheads, and a Best of from Radiohead.

Anything else that you’re excited about this week? Hopefully I didn’t miss anything else!

Fleet Foxes are out of sight! Their earlier EP is great too.

Great list! Of course, you have to wonder about the “Best of:” Radiohead album, as it doesn’t actually give radiohead money… its EMI’s, not Radiohead’s album. Hence, no “In Rainbows” tracks,
