So after about three days, we have a first for The Daily Graboid: A Saturday edition! Believe me, this was not my intention at all, as I meant to have this up by Thursday at least. But, you know how sometimes you just put off something, and continue to do so to the point where you completely lose interest in it altogether.

Now that it’s the weekend, maybe you’ve already bought your albums this week. Got the new Death Cab For Cutie? Great! Still, there’s reason enough to check all of the other great releases that may have slipped under your radar; including my personal choice this week: The Submarines’ second full-length, Honeysuckle Weeks. This was actually released digitally a while back, but this week marks it’s physical release. I have a feeling that a lot of people are falling asleep on this album, and I have no idea why. It’s a great pop record that avoids the sophomore slump, plus you’ve got one of the best songs of 2008 so far in “You, Me, & The Bourgeoisie.”

Some other albums I would definitely recommend include Dosh’s Wolves and Wishes, The Black Angels’ Directions To See A Ghost, The Botticellis’ Old Home Movies, and Young & Sexy’s The Arc. Have any of you heard the new Old 97s album? I was surprised to see something new from them, considering I didn’t even know they had anything coming out…

I’m liking the new DCFC, especially because I was afraid they’d go poppier after Plans and that success. Personally, Death Cab is a band that I don’t think will ever put out a year-topping great album, but I can always count on them for really solid indie pop, and they have yet to disappoint me.

And, the Submarines album is definitely worth getting (but you all already knew what I think on that subject)…
