In an attempt to liven up my otherwise boring holiday weekend, I decided to put together a little mix. Think of it as a Monday version of the Sunday Shuffle. What are you doing to celebrate Memorial Day? Staying at home? Maybe you need something to get the stink out of your mouth that is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And yes, it’s a terrible movie no matter what anyone tells you. I won’t go into spoiler territory, but if you want to get into this, feel free to discuss in the comments! At least it made me want to go back and watch some of the original trilogy (which I have been doing this weekend).
If you did see Indy 4 (I will not type out that ridiculous title anymore), hopefully you caught that creepy trailer for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. In all honestly, seeing that preview was the highlight of my night. That is a prime example of how you cut a trailer, which pretty much gave me chills as I felt like I had just seen a ghost after watching it. Here’s a Spanish version of the trailer here, if you’re curious. Also, I was completely shocked to find out that David Fincher directed the damn thing. If you can’t gauge what the film is about – it basically tells the story of man who ages backwards.
Anyways, hope everyone has a great end to their holiday weekend! A little warning about the mix though: It’s very twee!
MP3: Summer Cats :: “Wild Rice”
MP3: Tullycraft :: “Twee”
MP3: Heavenly :: “C Is the Heavenly Option”
MP3: Camera Obscura :: “If Looks Could Kill”
MP3: Liechtenstein :: “Stalking Skills”
MP3: Love is All :: “Nothing To Be Done”
MP3: The Manhattan Love Suicides :: “Suzy Jones”
MP3: Rose Melberg & Dustin Reske :: “The Love We Could Have Had”
MP3: The Lucksmiths :: “Adolescent Song of Mindless Devotion”
MP3: The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart :: “This Love is Fucking Right!”

Well, my wife and I have watched all three older Indiana Jones in the last week, and despite what people say, we’re still going to have to go see the 4th one of these days. Even if it’s a train wreck, I still have to know for myself…
In any case, I’ll try to go in expecting nothing…
You should definitely still see it. There are some great moments, but those few bright spots rely heavily on nostalgia. It’s just a very lazy and uninspired movie, in my opinion. And the macguffin they used for the driving force of the film was something I did not want to see explored in the Indy universe.
yeah, you could say i downed three bottles o’ scope mouthwash. idk how else to get indy outta the mouth. i felt like i had been watching a long, drawn out advertisement for Scientology…so i was half way expecting tom or john to come out after the credits and review what we had learned.
On a crazy side note… the other day, while we were watching Temple of Doom again, I realized for the first time, despite growing up with these movies, that Temple of Doom was prequel to Raiders. How could I have NOT known that!
Indy 4 = mediocre at best.
I really enjoyed ‘Son of Rambow’ though, and the new Narnia flick was pretty good too.
You liked ‘Prince Caspian’? wow…i didn’t think the previews on that one looked too good. Never liked the first one either, though.
Indy 4 is a piece of excrement from start to finish! Terrible. Slow, boring and the action scenes are awful. When the wedding guests clapped at the end I did too, in pure relief that the damn thing was over! I saw it as part of a fundraising event for my brother’s cricket team. Next time I’m handing him the $15 and staying home!
Top blog by the way…keep up the great work!
