Once again, I find myself rushing to get this week’s Graboid up, so this will be short. Nearly ten years after their last release, Portishead make their triumphant return with Third. After several listens, i’m still not quite sold on the album yet, but it certainly doesn’t make me love the group any less. Other releases worth looking at include Santogold’s self-titled debut, The Constantines’ Kensington Heights, South’s (who spells it out as sOuth? cos it’s really lame) You Are Here, and hmm…what else would you recommend this week?

I saw Awesome Color play the other day, and they were so good. The new LP is pretty out there.

Jamie Lidell’s album has been on rotation non-stop for me. Less electronic and more soul than Multiply was, which seems to have gotten a few negative responses, but it’s absolutely brilliant for me.

  3. Gaby says:

The New Frontiers’ “Mending” is absolutely gorgeous. They are such a talented, beautiful band. Goosebumps-orama live as well. They need to be BIG, like Radiohead-big.

    Nice stuff as usual, thanks.

    i’d recommend: boris – smile.

i’ve only listened to the japanese version, but i’ve already ordered the US version based on the strength of the former. they’re a really great japanese rock band, for those who haven’t heard of them. their 2006 album called pink was very good. intense stuff.

  7. I’m burning pretty hot for Awesome Color at the moment. I also agree that people should stop spelling South – sOuth! It’s silly! Lets get together, write some letters and start a campaign!!!

    Much love x
