Not as many new releases as the previous week (good – for my sake), which is fine because there’s really only one record you need to pick up this week: M83’s Saturdays = Youth. I just picked it up myself this morning off of iTunes, and I cannot wait to sit down and absorb every detail. All of the tracks i’ve heard so far seem to skew towards an 80’s teenage-angst type of movie soundtrack. It’s different, but still contains Gonzales’ signature shoegazer/electronic touches.

Anything else from this batch of releases that you can recommend? I’m kinda curious about that new Ours album, though I haven’t listened to anything from Jimmy Gnecco since Distorted Lullabies.

M83 was an obvious choice, I did the same on my blog. But it is so bloody good. Away from that, I strongly recommend the Frightened Rabbit record. Very good. It’s just two of them, brothers, and they have been likened to the Shins. I wouldn’t quite agree with that, but have a listen for yourself.

If you fancy some electro, the Does it Offend You, Yeah? album isn’t bad. I listen to that in the gym a fair bit.

    Definitely avoid the Kooks album.

And I don’t know if you are aware of Eerie or The Whitest Boy Alive, but I have put some mp3s up on my blog, and I think they are songs you might like.

    Stay cool.

Speaking of Frightened Rabbit, the song you’ve posted is not “Modern leper”, is it?
