Another week, another set of new releases – with this week headlined by none other than R.E.M.’s Accelerate, which is currently sitting on my desk, ready to be listened to at some point this week while i’m at work. Is the singer from Sun Kil Moon the guy from the Red House Painters? Sounds very similar.
Charlie, yup. He is…
I’m digging Accelerate, as well as Colour Revolt and Los Campesinos! releases… I’m still really wanting to get the new Black Keys…
I like the new releases from Apples in Stereo. I have to wonder, is Stephen, Stephen about Stephen Colbert?
I thought the Billionaires was very “Grease”, you know, the high school musical.
Camphor sounds like a soundtrack, which makes sense because the lead singer, Max Avery, composes music for indie films.
I thought R.E.M. was a let down.
I was surprised I wasn’t all about Yelle. I like pop music, I like electro-pop, and I like French pop. But for some reason, it didn’t wow me. Some tracks remind me of M.I.A. , others kinda sound like I’ve heard it before, only in French.
I liked Unwed Sailor. Beautifully orchestrated.
Anyone else agree?
I agree with Sara about the billionaires, but like it nonetheless.
The Astrid Williamson song is outstanding.
Oh! Oh! Bryan Scary!? I had no idea he had a new album. Thanks for the heads up!!!
I kinda prefer the Yelle remixes over the album versions, honestly.
Sara…yes the Apples in Stereo song is about Stephen Colbert. Do you remember Colbert’s “feud” with The Decemberists? This song was premiered on the final guitar-off showdown between Colbert and Chris Funk as kind of a “Go Stephen!” I’m surprised it’s actually on the album.
