I couldn’t be more excited over the recent announcement of a new album from Martin Dosh, as I find him to be such a unique musician who manages to create such experimental sounds, yet still have a way with his sound that is both effortless and pleasurable to sit back and soak in. Dosh’s previous album, The Lost Take, was without a doubt, one of the real hidden gems of 2006. If you haven’t listened to it yet, do pick it up as it effortlessly infuses elements of jazz, electro-pop and prog. rock into a record that can be enjoyed to the fullest at any given moment.
The fourth LP, titled Wolves and Wishes, is set to arrive May 13 on Anticon. And from the looks of this sample track “If You Want To, You Have To” it seems to be walking down a similiar path that made me love the last album so much. It’s such a great taste of what Dosh’s music is all about to me, as it manages to incorporate so many different instruments and sounds without any of it feeling forced. It all just comes across so naturally and simple, while still leaving a little bit of room to explore.
Of course with the new record we can expect a very long list of guest contributions, including Andrew Bird (who Martin drums for) and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. I’m hoping to hear some tour dates soon, as it would be fantastic to get a chance to see him perform live.

He is great live. Playing an instrument, looping it ala Jon Brion, creating a gorgeous sound. I’m curious about what he did with Bonnie Prince Billy.
Really nice stuff. Thanks for the tip!
