Lots of truly great albums to be had this week, with releases from the likes of Destroyer and DeVotchka – both of whom we’ve covered here extensively. One album in particular that I would really like to highlight is Volume One from She & Him – the very high-profile collaboration between M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel. I wasn’t too keen on listening to this early on, until recently hearing a track on NPR one afternoon and becoming instantly hooked. I’m currently listening to the album right now, and it sounds surprisingly refreshing, as Zooey is more than capable as a vocalist while Matt’s production embraces classic AM radio sounds. Definitely an album that i’ll continue listening to throughout the upcoming months.

Other worthy releases that have been keeping my attention include: The Dodo’s Visiter, The Kills’ Midnight Boom, and The Teenagers’ Reality Check. Such a great week for music, so hopefully you find something here that’s worth your hard earned money. Anything else out this week that you can recommend?

Some great tracks in this list! But I think the song from The Dodos is Jodi not Jody.. :)
