I can’t tell if you are kidding… so I don’t know whether to laugh out loud or read you the riot act. Let me just say that you picked the WRONG BAND to use as a “joke” (if that’s what it was meant to be.) So…if you are REALLY fans of music, allow me to EDUCATE regarding this HUGE gap in your musical backgrounds.

ELEVENTH DREAM DAY are from CHICAGO and have been making incredible records for over 25 years with the same core line-up and are one of the FINEST bands of the rock era. If you don’t believe me, just look up their entry on the http://www.ALLMUSICGUIDE.com site. Their most recent record – ZEROES AND ONES – from last year (2006) was, without question, one of the year’s top releases, appearing on numerous year-ending TOP 50 lists.

A few years back, ROLLING STONE called EDD “… one of the most CRIMINALLY under-appreciated bands of our generation…”

As one of your more enlightened readers noted above, Janet Bean, the drummer and co-lead vocalist, was one of the FOUNDERS of FREAKWATER. In addition, the bassist – DOUG McCOMBS (very possibly the FINEST bass player in the history of rock…) was also a FOUNDER of the post-rock band TORTOISE (heard of THEM?…maybe?). They are also very tied-in with YO LA TENGO and have toured with them often. Individual EDD members have also guested on many of YO LA TENGO’s records.

Their sound is nearly impossible to describe, but they are certainly NOT… “…a half-decent twee/indie-pop group…”, as described above. WHAT A FUCKING RIOT!!! If only you knew! They are a bit POP… a bit JAZZ… a bit COUNTRY … a LOT paint-peeling GUITAR ROCK.

But a couple things they are NOT are TWEE and “HALF-DECENT…”.
