"THE RACE" by THE HEAVENLY STATES is pretty rocking. It reminds me of a mash of THE CLASH, THE HOLD STEADY & BUILT TO SPILL....hmmm, intriguing....

Moonbeams by Throw me the Statue is awesome. I've been listening to it for a few months now and I can say that the beautiful track About to Walk is one of my least favourite songs now. And that says it all... The somewhat offkey singing, the raw instruments en quirky sounds. Really nice.

richie has it right.

i really do like the atlas sound record, about as much as the deerhunter album, which i thoroughly enjoyed. he keeps the drone tracks to a more tolerable level and the "actual songs" are quite good.

re: Atlas Sound - the MP3 that you posted up there is a fairly good indication of what it sounds like.. It's very good, but it'd be preferrable if you have an inclination towards the Eno-ish\droney ambience side of things, because about half of the tracks are more like noise washes than 'songs' as such. Give 'River Card' and 'Recent Bedroom' a listen, the whole thing is streaming on his myspace page.
