Rock Band on Late Night with Conan O’Brien

Here’s a video clip from a recent episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the first show back after the writer’s strike, which shows what they’ve been doing during the two month writer’s strike: That’s right, they’re playing Rock Band. Conan singing along to the Beastie Boy’s “Sabotage” as the wife of Archie Bunker is just comedy gold.
I mean this is how it is all over the place. People playing it in offices, living rooms, you name it. During the holidays, I went into the local Hastings and right up front is a gigantic stack of boxes of Rock Band. Actually, both Rock Band and Guitar Hero III (I personally hate that game) have been selling incredible amounts of copies, as it’s really hit that mainstream/casual audience and are starting to introduce a lot of people to gaming that would otherwise not be interested.
Not to mention the legs this game is gonna have due to the almost nonstop weekly downloadable content from Harmonix. I imagine that this time next year we’ll still be talking about this game due to the DLC just in itself. Has anyone gotten comfortable with the drumming difficulty on hard mode? I still can’t get over how ridiculous the learning curve gets after medium difficulty.
