The previous time I posted about Hot Chip back in November, I was still awaiting to hear some new material from their upcoming album Made In The Dark. With the February release fastly approaching, we’ve now been able to listen to at least two tracks off the forthcoming record so far. The first single, “Ready For The Floor,” has been completely dominating my iPod at work after I finally listened to it earlier this month. The second song that was recently made available, the title track “Made In The Dark,” is a completely toned down, and more intimate song compared to anything else i’ve heard from the group. It’s definitely a surprise, but a welcome one.
Though my taste and focus has shifted to different genres of music here on the blog, I can always appreciate a great dance track every once in a while. In the case of Hot Chip, i’ve never really loved everything from them; but when the group is able to strike that chord with any one of their songs – it’s almost like listening to a juggernaut of a pop song. It’s always that one simple, repetitive hook from Alexis Taylor that always seems to reel me in every single time. It’s just so catchy! And If the majority of the new record can do this for me, than I will certainly be listening to it late into the year.
