Do you have a de facto New Year’s anthem? Believe it or not…I do. Sometime in the winter of 2002 or spring of 2003, I heard “The Ice of Boston” by The Dismemberment Plan and although it’s more depressing than say, Prince’s “1999,” it definitely fits the boozy, head-in-a-fog mood of the night. It’s the sort of tune that’s great for drinking to on account of that “HEY!” starting the chorus and serves as a reminder that nothing says, “let’s bring the new year in with a bang” quite like…a hangover. (And although this post might suggest otherwise – no, I didn’t wake up hungover this morning.)
Regardless of how you spent last night, Happy 2008 everyone!
