What a nice way to start off the beginning of the weekend, as I found via my email, that a band we adore here at TYS, the Champaign, Illinois three-piece Headlights, are releasing their follow-up to 2006’s Kill Them With Kindness on Polyvinyl. It wasn’t a flawless album per se, but it contained a few gems like “TV” and “Put Us Back Together Right,” the latter of which I absolutely loved to pieces. If there is one song from 2006 that I still listen to with any regularity, it’s that one.

The new album titled Some Racing, Some Stopping, will be released February 19, once again on Polyvinyl. They’ve also made the first single “Cherry Tulips” available for us to sample. The song has this nice little holiday-ish jingle to it, while the boy/girl vocals and guitar effects remain intact. It’s simple, but more of that sweet, sweet pop we’ve come to expect. Really looking forward to hearing this one.
