Listening to these new songs off the upcoming album Devotion from Beach House, have truly been the highlight of an otherwise uneventful week. I am completely smitten over “Gila” as the vocal melodies from Victoria Legrand glide along at a steady pace with that familiar dream-pop sound that was so unique from their flawless debut. The keys and organs provide a ethereal sound that would seem so perfect while sitting on a secluded oceanside area.
I can’t wait to listen to this later in the day, as i’ve said previously that this is the type of music that you just can’t randomly decide to listen to. Given time to really absorb every detail, do you really begin to notice how awe-inspiring this duo really is. That being said, it’s a little past noon and i’ve already replayed this song about five times.
February can’t come soon enough for this album; If it even has a quarter of the emotional impact that the debut had on me, than it will easily be an album that i’ll be talking about at the end of 2008. Cheers to Grizzly Bear for posting the tracks up on their blog. “D.A.R.L.I.N.G.” is an equally gorgeous track as well, with that delicate slide guitar, but right now i’m really partial towards “Gila” as it will be stuck in my brain throughout the rest of the day.
