I’m sure this news spread like wild fire after it was mentioned a few days ago via The Daily Swarm that My Bloody Valentine, one of my all-time favorite bands, has indeed reunited. This apparently coming straight from the mouth of singer Kevin Shields himself, who as of late, only seems to come out of his cave for Sophia Coppola soundtracks. Not only have the band reunited, but it appears that they have returned to the studio to record new material and we could possibly see a new album before the end of this year. If you head over to MBV’s website, you’ll notice that it’s currently under construction as it’s being worked on by bassist Debbie Goodge.
I wanted to post this news right away, but instead I went to work and listened to Loveless. It’s hard to believe that I was only eight years old when that album was released. I didn’t add this album to my collection until sometime in high school when I found it in a used cd bin, which is still the best used cd i’ve ever found.
This album is still just so incredibly sexy and perfect – tomorrow night i’ll definitely be playing Isn’t Anything and whatever else I can find. Exciting news, huh? Damn, shoegaze is coming back in a big way! Now if those Coachella rumors end up being true….
