Two great shows to wet your appetite this week in Birmingham start tonight with Earlimart / OFFICE / Through the Sparks and the following night with Man Man / The Extraordinaires / Nowhere Squares.
I wish I could make it out to see OFFICE, as you all should know by now that I love this band, but it’s not gonna happen for me. I’m sure it’ll be a fun time and if anyone makes it out to the show, i’m definitely interested to hear your thoughts on it. That coupled with an established act like Earlimart and well-known Birmingham act Through the Sparks only sweetens the deal.
“Nevermind The Phonecalls” | Earlimart
“Answers and Questions” | Earlimart
“Wound Up” | OFFICE
“The Ritz” | OFFICE
Tuesday night’s show should be absolutely insane as i’ve heard crazy things about Man Man’s wild performances. I’ve never seen them perform myself, but this makes me sad that I don’t live in Birmingham. The Extraordinares are a band I remember from an older post that Pablo did a year ago. If i remember correctly, they’re sort of sound like the Decemberists. The Nowhere Squares are a local Birmingham band, but I haven’t heard them before. Bottletree has the following though: “The Nowhere Squares are one of the most kinetic and histrionic live bands to come out of Birmingham. They combine devo-esque new wave theatrics with the hooks of the Ramones at the velocity of the Buzzcocks.”
Tickets for each night are available at the The Bottletree website and locally in Birmingham at Laser’s Edge in Homewood, Charlemagne Records in Five Points, and A & A Music in Trussville.
“Ice Dogs” | Man Man
“Van Helsing Boom Box” | Man Man
“Neighborhood Watch” | The Extraordinaires
