Yes, you heard me right – we have some decent shows here in Auburn this week at both the Olde Auburn Ale House with Brooke Waggoner and The Winter Sounds on the 11th and Roosters with Misfortune500 on the 12th. It would be great if people showed up in support, because this town needs great live music. It’s something that Auburn’s been lacking for many years now. I’ll definitely be at both of these shows, so feel free to say hello to the lone asian with the Braves hat. Please come and show your support!

I’ve posted previously about this talented pianist/singer-songwriter and how I was completely smitten after hearing just one song off her recently released EP. Really looking forward to seeing her perform.

Found out this Athens based indie-pop quintet were on the same bill only a few weeks ago, and I haven’t really gotten a chance to hear more than a couple songs. That being said, those few songs are great and have an airy sensibility to them – which makes for good Fall weather music. Their debut album Porcelain Empire was released back in June or July.

An email was waiting for me this morning when I woke up in regards to this show coming up at Rooster’s. Another Athens quartet that is not some run-of-the-mill indie band, but play a sort of late-90’s anthemic alternative-rock. What immediately grabbed my attention when I heard these songs were the vocals of lead singer Chisolm Thompson. Very strong and aggressive with a howling that reminds me of this odd combination of Bono and Jimmy Gnecco.

Fixed the Misfortune500 tracks, because they were playing a bit slow.
It’s cool to see an indie rock post that features women in all three bands. I’ve never been a fan of musical boys’ clubs, and it makes my burgeoning male/female indie band seem increasingly valid.
Hush if You Must is on track to be my favourite song of the year. It’s sweepingly gorgeous and never lets up.
the winter sounds is one of my fav bands! they are great i saw them last time they played auburn!
