After a wonderful September stacked to the brim with great releases, one would think that October would pale in comparison. This week seems to prove otherwise, as there are some worthwhile albums to look out for. Starting off with my obvious choice, PJ Harvey’s White Chalk – which i’ve held off listening to till tonight. I’ll probably review this one later in the week, but i’ve mentioned it enough times here on the site for everyone to know what’s in store with Polly Jean’s new musical direction. Another release that i’m sure is up there for a majority of folks is Bruce Springsteen’s Magic. Though i’m not a huge fan of The Boss, I certainly respect his music and I actually do own a few albums – the last being 2002’s The Rising.
Lots of other great releases in the indie world that include: The Most Serene Republic’s Population, Mobius Band’s Heaven and the US release of We Are The Pipettes from The Pipettes. We’re also starting to see some winter holiday-themed albums coming out like Over the Rhine’s Snow Angels and Yep Roc’s Oh Santa!

Props to putting a Carol Bui track on here. Excellent musician – and damn cool human being.
