Kinda slim pickings this week after a little over a month’s worth of consistently great weeks of album releases. I guess we can just sit back and catch our bearings with this week’s edition of The Daily Graboid. Not really anything here that I would instantly want, but there could possibly be a few interesting albums here. Starting off with R.E.M.’s first ever live album, Maritime (former members of The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan) and their new album Heresy & the Hotel Choir, former Semisonic frontman Dan Wilson‘s solo album Free Life and finally, the U.S. release of The Cake Sale, a collective of musicians and writers from Ireland.
Any albums this week that you’re excited about? I’m sure i’ve probably missed something, so let me know if there’s anything else I can add.

Hey, I didn’t know Dan Wilson had a solo CD out. Very cool – I was so sad when Semisonic split up. I dig yer blog.
Keep the updates coming, I enjoy reading this blog. Of all the releases this week I am def diggin’ Soulsavers. The album is INSANE…get into it!!!
Everything on The Cake Sale is good, but Black Winged Bird by Nina Persson is a real standout.

Soulsavers make me appreciate good music…I can hear the Johnny Cash influence
I had a chance to pick up The Cake Sale, R.E.M. , and Soulsavers and they are all decent albums. ‘Black Winged Bird’ on The Cake Sale is indeed a stand out track as is Revival on Soulsavers. Good stuff…Real Good Stuff!!!!!
Actually I don’t think Eric Axelson (ex-D Plan) is in the band anymore since he’s been teaching high school. But yay for a new album from them, nonetheless.
I’m curious about that Soulsavers album. The Southeast Engine album is the best thing I’ve heard all year.
how could you not mention the souldsavers album. that shit was unbelievable. Something about that voice that just puts me in a trance. i’ll tell u, that mark lanegan is one of the best in the business. go get the album. you won’t regret it. i think they’ll be touring late november too. look into it if you can. they rock.
