It seems that the city of Austin is the place to be if you want to fine yourself knee-deep in indie music festivals, as Fun Fun Fun Fest is coming right around the corner on November 3 and 4 at Waterloo Park. The lineup is just too amazing for words compared to something like The Echo Project – that seemed like Bonnaroo but more lame – that just wrapped up over the weekend near Atlanta. I could’ve went to that if I wanted to, but I just can’t get excited seeing jam bands on a flyer.
Peep the lineup for yourself and check out the official website for the schedule. Are any of you going? Who are you excited to see and will you take me with you?!

Well, I will agree that the line-up to Echo left much to be desired, however, there were many reasons to go that you seemed to have overlooked. For one, there was a stage completely powered by solar panels as well as using alternative fuels to power the rest of the stages and booths and such. Will that be happening in Austin? It seems that the problem with most of these “indie, hipster, whatever you want to call” bands is that they are self absorbed. Maybe they could learn a few things from these festivals labeled “jamband” and start informing their audiences to more then just their newest album. Also, maybe the author of this post could take a little more time before they write off something like Echo in one sentence convincing your audience that there was nothing there to be desired. BTW, having seen Cat Power on Saturday night, I would be very disappointed if she were one of the headliners of this Austin Fest. She did well, but she can barely sing on stage much less headline a fest.
Hey J, sorry if i’m misinforming our readers about The Echo Project. I know what it’s all about and what it was trying to promote, but i’m comparing it solely based on artist lineups. It’s all for a great cause of course! There were a lot of great performers also, but i’m just saying overall I wasn’t interested. Plus it was way too expensive for me. That’s it! Don’t be mad!
Not mad, just someone who crosses over the borders off these two forces and wish that all walls could come down. Thanks for TYS.
Holy Crap! that echo thing was $178! forget that. this funfunfun looks to be 50-something bucks and concerned only with music. i don’t think they’re trying to save the earth or at least the people on the earth.
anyway… hope to finally catch Explosions since i missed them at coachella and acl. also in the ‘i have yet to see’ bracket: Final Fantasy and Cadence Weapon. in the ‘really want to see again’ bracket: Diplo, Busdriver, Ted Leo, New Pornos, and Of Montreal.
plus, it’s hard to fight a music fest co-sponsored by a blog.
hope to see ya there J.
