Brooke Waggoner @ Olde Auburn Ale House

Photo from a different performance
Sometimes I just don’t understand the people here in Auburn. I tried feverishly to get as many people to show up to Ale House last night, and it’s like noone really gives a shit. Do they expect something horrible like another jam/cover band? I have no idea and i’m sure I will never figure it out.
The small crowd that did happen to show up witnessed an amazing, albeit very short, opening set from Brooke Waggoner. I’ve been praising her on the blog for a while now ever since I heard the Fresh Pair Of Eyes EP. I think she turned a lot of heads with her performance as she was on stage alone with only a keyboard. Lacking the luscious string arrangements made prevalent on the EP, they were made up for tenfold with masterful piano playing that commanded the crowd’s attention.
Like I said previously, the set was very short and it’s difficult to remember the smaller details of what happened. I talked with her a few times throughout the night and she was very kind and appreciative, so hopefully you’ll be hearing more of her soon enough. She’s currently in the midst of a tour with The Winter Sounds and you can catch her tonight at Rhino’s in Columbus, GA. She’ll also be at CMJ next week on the 17th.
For our readers, I picked up a few extra copies of her EP to giveaway here on the blog. Just leave a comment with your email address and i’ll pick two people at random sometime next week. My pictures turned out pretty horribly, so I apologize for not posting any.

i keep hearing about this lady! thanks for the great posts – and i’m glad to be in the running for the ep! keep up the good work here at the yellow stereo…
Paul I’m so sorry – I truly wanted to come – really really crappy day plus too much work not accomplished in time. The other reason I wanted to come was because I knew I wouldn’t be able to come tonight – so if you go please do some enjoying for me, too. Thanks again for letting me know about it.
Sounds like it was a great show. It’s a shame she’s not coming anywhere near me or I’d make an effort to go. Keep up the good work here.
I like this girl. “Wonder-dummied” is a cool song, so I would love to hear what the rest of the EP sounds like. I like your blog too
