Still in the midst of catching up with news and what not, but a recent announcment has caught my eye.  Juggernaut (yes they are) indie label Arts & Crafts announced the signing of Montreal’s The Stills, who will be releasing a new album sometime in 2008.  The band had to say the following on their newly relaunched website:

We have come together stronger than I ever thought possible. Heaps of new music which will comprise our third album, to be recorded in Montreal, will surface officially in the early spring of 2008. We are working diligently and harder than ever before in our lives towards creating and shaping our world, and it is all-consuming and manic.

Nonetheless, and thankfully, we will be playing shows during this recording period to maintain that oft-strived for balance of madness and joy that accompanies both the studio bunker and live, wasted jubilation. We will be playing two Toronto shows at Lee’s Palace, to commemorate and celebrate our signing to A&C. November 23rd and 24th. We’ll also be joining Spoon for a show in Orlando, Florida on November 9th.

In my opinion, their second release Without Feathers, was a huge disappointment.  The band went in a completely different direction with their sound and unfortunately it just didn’t mesh too well with my expectations.  To this very day though, I still listen to Logic Will Break Your Heart every few months it seems as it still sounds amazing.  Seriously, pop that album in sometime and listen to it again – it still blows my mind with how great it is.

Whew! Thanks for confirming my feelings about Without Feathers. I also am still in love (ha ha) with Logic Will Break Your Heart, and I’d like to hear them return to songs like those.
