This week’s list of music releases is a bit scarce due to the extended Labor Day weekend, but there are a few really good albums worth checking out. I highly recommend checking out Marla Hansen’s six-track EP titled Wedding Day, which I happened to purchase on iTunes right after I heard the title track. She’s a singer-songwriter and classically trained violinist (oh how I love a woman violinist) who moonlights as a member of Sufjan Stevens’ Illinoise Makers along with playing violin in My Brightest Diamond – both of whom are guests on the EP.
A few others that have caught my attention as of late are Ferraby Lionheart’s Catch the Brass Ring and Deer Tick’s War Elephant. I think you can find an older post somewhere with Eric mentioning Calvin Harris’ I Created Disco. I hope I didn’t miss anything with the short release list, but let me know if there is an album I may have overlooked.

Calvin Harris | I Created Disco

Deer Tick | War Elephant
“Art Isn’t Real (City of Sin)”

Ferraby Lionheart | Catch the Brass Ring

Manu Chao | La Radiolina

Marla Hansen | Wedding Day

You forgot the add one of the best albums of this year: Jens Lekman’s 2nd album “Night Falls Over Kortedala”; it’s wonderfully beautiful. I forgot to mention it on my website as well, so no biggie

Marla Hansen sounds cool, I’m going to check her out. But what a contrast to Manu Chao! ha ha ….if you like Manu Chao, here’s a cool review from LA Times http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-ca-chao2sep02,1,5316536.story?ctrack=1&cset=true
I dont think Night Falls Over Kortedala comes out till October. Otherwise I would feel pretty terrible leaving that one out

Damn, well thanks PJ! Calvin Harris is quickly becoming a favorite, my iPod is taking toll! “Merry Making at my Place” is excellent!
